This is, in a nutshell, who I am and what my interests are. My name is Frans Hens and I was born on 7 January 1960 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands as the first son of an electrician and an OR nurse. The early sixties and all its influential historical events passed me by as I was still a small boy. The first major event I can still remember was the landing on the moon. The one after that was the fact that I was marching in an anti Vietnam-war rally in which almost every High School student took part.

After 'struggling' through High School I was enlisted in the Army but decided to volunteer for the Dutch UN mission in Lebanon. On the Index page you will find a link to my - Dutch - Unifil site. This became an important part of my life and I have never regretted taking part in it.

My tour of duty lasted from November 1979 untill June 1980 and after I returned, I took some time off. In September of the same year I started working for the company I still work for today. Now I'm the IT Coordinator at one of our branches. I am married to Anne for over 22 years and we have a twenty year old daughter named Kayleigh.

My early youth and my hankering for nostalgia makes that I'm interested in the Korean and Vietnam war era, all kind of WWII flight gear and vintage advertisements. These form the heart of my interest and hobbies.

Let me show you around Hangar number Four!

Yours truly,

Frans Hens.
